GREEN Review

Having read the entire Books of History Chronicles, I can say that GREEN is by far the most confusing and conclusive of them all, it will have you captivated and crying with every sentence. The fate of both worlds has always rested upon Thomas Hunter and now Dekkies far and wide will understand just what that means with Ted's most provocative novel yet. While Ted assures readers that it can be both the beginning and the end, I read it as the end and it tied up many loose ends, while still leaving mysteries that will never be known. Dive Deep into the world of DeKker. Dive Deep into GREEN, the beginning and the end.

I have this problem. Its my jealousy.

You see, I wasn't even aware that I had jealousy until about 2 or 3 weeks ago. And now that I know, it doesn't ever go away.

I get so jealous that I honestly want to hurt really bad. I just get these bursts of horrible anger and crankiness. I'm a jerk to everyone who tries to talk to me and I have no self control against anything.

Its horrible.

And I'm not sure what to do about it.

I'm not sure I want to do anything about it.

So there's my short blog post. I just needed to get it out, and since no one will read this anyways...its a good way to do that.

Paul's Chains Advance the Gospel Part 3

Today we finish the section on Paul’s Chains Advance the Gospel…tomorrow we get into Imitating Christ’s Humility in Philippians chaptah 2.

Glorious Lord, I ask that You would be with me as I write this blog, that You would bless the words being written. That You would fill the readers with Your Spirit…that You would bless all those who read. Thank You, Lord Jesus, thank You. Amen.

Read Philippians 1:27-30

27Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel
Paul is explaining to them that no matter what they go through they should still live for Christ, even if he doesn’t come to help them through it. He has faith in them that they will stand together in faith.

28without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God.
Don’t get freaked out because there are those who are against you, stand against them as one. Because they are against you, you will know that they are going to Hell and you will be in Heaven with Christ.

29For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him,
This is the most powerful verse of the passage…we are not only put on this earth to believe in Christ and to go to Heaven…but also we need to suffer for Christ. Its not all love and grace and fluffy bunnies…you have to go through the bad as well as the good.

30since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.
Paul is saying that he’s been there…he’s struggled with his faith…he knows where they are.

I challenge you all to live for Christ all the time…to realize that you must go through the suffering and sadness as well as all of the good things in life. Tomorrow, we talk about attitude…

Be the pinprick of light in the darkness. The star. Be the star.

Paul's Chains Advance the Gospel Part 2

Wow, are we on day four already? I’d just like to thank all of you who are reading this…it really means a lot to me that anyone is reading since I take the time to write these things. I would also like to say that if any of you have any prayer requests, feel free to e-mail them to me at…I would be happy to pray for you. Okay, today’s lesson-thingy.

Lord, I ask that You would bless the time that is about to be spent diving into Your word. Please bless those about to read it and be with me as I write it. Give me the wisdom to say what they need to hear, help them to think of their own lives as they read this. Amen.

Read Philippians 1:18b-26

18b Yes, and I will continue to rejoice,
I’ll tell you what…I rejoice every day for the opportunity to be able to write this and to have all of the prayer requests that I’ve gotten. I rejoice in my prayers every day, many times a day. I rejoice again and again, but it is still not enough. It is never enough!

19 for I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, which has happened to me will turn our for my deliverance.
What a powerful statement! Paul is rejoicing because he knows that he will be saved from the prison, he has that much faith in prayer. That is my challenge for you, to put faith in prayer. Have faith that I am praying for you, have faith that you pray for yourself, have faith that the Lord will deliver you from your situation!

20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
Paul is saying (while he’s in prison, mind you!) that he hopes he courageous enough to honor Christ, and he says that even if he dies, he hopes Christ is still exalted. He is totally giving it all to the Lord right there, saying “hey, God, even if its Your will that I die…I hope I can still honor You.” Wow.

21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Once again, Paul is saying that if he dies, its all good…then he’ll just get to be in Heaven, and he’s gaining by leaving this world!

22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.
Paul is weighing his options…he wants so much to be with Christ but yet cares enough about those in Philippi that he wants to stay because they need him. This is so much like me, I often give up things (mostly sleep, haha) to help others. (Wow, did I just compare myself to Paul? I think there’s something wrong with my head today…must be the heat.)

25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that through my being with you again your joy in Christ Jesus will overflow on account of me.
So Paul is like, “okay, guys, I want to stay because I care about you and I want you to all have joy in the Lord.” Wow…that is so hard to wrap my head around. Paul is saying that he’s going to go through all of this junk (like imprisonment and life sucking) to help others have joy in Christ. To have joy. Its all about the joy!!

Dear God, thank You so very, very much for yet another chance to share Your word with others in this world. I ask that You would be with them and bless them in the coming days. Answer their prayers, Lord, even if the answer is no. Help them, and myself, to rejoice in You always, Lord. Thank You, thank You, thank You…I love You, Lord. Amen.

Be the pinprick of light in the darkness. The star. Be the star.

Paul's Chains Advance the Gospel

Day three, here we come. This is refreshing, isn’t it? I love it.

I’m gunna pray: Lord, I ask that You would give me the wisdom as I study Your word and write about it in this blog. I ask that You would bless this time that I will be spending meditating in Your word and that You would bless those reading this. I ask that whatever they would be going through in life that You would help them to apply this to them. Thank You for this opportunity to be able to read Your word, to meditate on Your word and to write freely on Your word. Amen.

Okay, today. In case you didn’t notice, I have been referring to the NIV translation of the Bible…but today as I was looking at I came across the Message translation and I thought it summed up the verses pretty good, so I’m going to include that at the end of what I have to say about the passage.

Read Philippians 1:12-18a

12 Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel.
Paul is writing this about the fact that because he’s in jail, God’s word has been spread more than it would’ve been if he had not been in jail. Personally, I say to you that what has happened to me helps me to live for God every day of my life…and it will also help you to do the same. I don’t personally know your situation, but I just pray that one day, we will both be living for God 24/ day, everything will be better. I have faith in that, and you have to have faith in that as well.

13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.
Literally, Paul is saying that the whole palace knows that he’s in jail because he was preaching the word of God, and as a result he has preached to the people in the palace.

14 Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly.
Because he’s in jail, it has caused many other followers of Christ to speak more forcefully about the Gospel…which is the complete opposite of the reason he was there to begin with.

15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.
I do believe that this passage is pretty clear, and I really have nothing to say on them except about the last sentence. Rejoicing. It’s all about rejoicing, Paul is in prison and yet he is rejoicing because Christ is preached, even if it is for the wrong reasons. This is huge, you should rejoice in everything.

The Message Translation (this translation doesn’t have individual verse numbers, it is translated by passage instead):
12-14 I want to report to you, friends, that my imprisonment here has had the opposite of its intended effect. Instead of being squelched, the Message has actually prospered. All the soldiers here, and everyone else, too, found out that I'm in jail because of this Messiah. That piqued their curiosity, and now they've learned all about him. Not only that, but most of the followers of Jesus here have become far more sure of themselves in the faith than ever, speaking out fearlessly about God, about the Messiah.

15-17It's true that some here preach Christ because with me out of the way, they think they'll step right into the spotlight. But the others do it with the best heart in the world. One group is motivated by pure love, knowing that I am here defending the Message, wanting to help. The others, now that I'm out of the picture, are merely greedy, hoping to get something out of it for themselves. Their motives are bad. They see me as their competition, and so the worse it goes for me, the better—they think—for them.

I hope and pray that this Bible study is going good for you, and that you are enjoying reading it as much as I am enjoying writing it.

I’ll close in prayer: Thank You, Christ Jesus, for the opportunity for us to be able to study Your word, for the freedom that we have to do this, unlike Paul did. I ask that You would help both myself and those reading this to rejoice in our daily lives. To rejoice when it seems like the last thing we should be doing. I ask that You would be with both these people and myself in the coming days as we continue to study Your word. Amen.

Be the light. The pinprick of light in the darkness. The star. Be the star.

Thanksgiving and Prayer - Part 2

Alright, part two of prayer and thanksgiving. You know the drill, get out your Bible. It’s only day two, you can’t be sick of it yet. Today we’ll do Philippians 1:7-11. We’ll just finish the prayer and thanksgiving section.

But first, before we go through the verses we're going to pray. I'll keep it simple this time...just because I'm just starting out slow and the original person this was intended for really needs this broken down.

Dear Lord Jesus, I just ask that as we read these verses that you would give us all wisdom. That you would show us meaning in each and that we would each be able to apply this passage to our lives. I thank You, Lord, for the wonderful opportunity that we have to be able to read and study Your Word and to do it in as public of a place as the internet. Amen.

Read Philippians 1:7-11.

Same drill as before, read it, try to understand it. Feel it. Think it. Breathe it. Be it.

7a It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart;
Referring back to yesterday’s lesson, it’s saying that I pray for you and have joy for you because you are in my heart. Really, you are, and you know that.

7b for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.
Remember, this is Paul writing, he was imprisoned for spreading the gospel. And no matter where I am, what we’re going through, we share God’s grace.

8 God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
Only God truly knows how much I absolutely love you, and I love you with the same love that Christ Jesus loves you with. Also, I long for all of you to be followers of Christ.

9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,
This is Paul praying for the Philippians, and me praying for you. I pray for your love to thrive more and more, and that you may have much knowledge and insight in His word and in life.

10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ,
I pray that you may be able to have the wisdom to hear when God tells you what is best for things that really matter. And that you would be pure and blameless for when Christ returns, even though that is slightly pushing it. We can never be pure and blameless.

11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ - to the glory and praise of God.
Also praying that you will be filled with the “fruit of righteousness” when the day of Christ comes and that this righteousness comes from Jesus Christ and this is all to praise God. That’s what everything in life should be about, praising God.

So these verses are the ending of my thanksgiving for you, and my prayers for you. (Well, technically, Paul’s thanksgiving and prayer to the Philippians)

Be the light. The pinprick of light in the darkness. The star. Be the star.

Thanksgiving and Prayer- Part 1

Alright, here we go. Break out the Bible. Don’t groan…just do it! Yes, I’m demanding. Yes, I do mean now. Yes, now. Not later, I don’t want to hear excuses.

Alright, you got it? No, you wanted to try and read on to see what I had to say before you got it out. Well go get it, if you don’t have time now then close this until you do have time. Yes, seriously.

Read Philippians 1:3-6.

So you read it, and you’re saying, “I don’t get it,” in a whiny voice. Well read it again. I mean really read it, try to understand it. Read it word-by-word, sentence-by-sentence. It’s an easy passage, I promise.

Okay, you’ve read it. Now I'll go through it.

3 I thank my God every time I remember you.
Okay, so you’re like, “Duh, Sara, I get that part.” Well, you do, and you don’t. I really do thank our God every single day…every day…really.

4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.
Okay, it says “all of you” but that’s because Paul is writing to the people of Philippi. And, once again, I really do pray with joy when I pray for you, because I love you, babe.

5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,
Alright, I’m not exactly sure what Paul means by “the first day” but it doesn’t really matter all that much. But our “first day” could be many days...the actual day doesn’t matter, it’s the concept.

6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Okay, I’m doing this whole thing on just thoughts out of my head and not from a Bible study thing or anything, so bear with me on some of the things I say. I think that “he who began a good work in you” is Jesus, or God…and He will carry it on until completion…which is the day of Christ Jesus…which is the day that Jesus comes back, the Second Coming.
Now that you read those verses, go back and read the verses preceding it. You can read after if you want, but you don’t need to…yet. We’ll get to them. I’m starting out slow and easy for a reason.

Be the light. The pinprick of light in the darkness. The star. Be the star.

The Answers

So right now you’re thinking, “Alright, Sara, what the heck is this all about?” Well, here is where I will tell you.
I started with Philippians because I think it’s an easy book to understand, its short, it’s my favorite, and it has a lot of joy. Paul uses the words joy and rejoice a whole bunch in this book, so it's good for all of us. So I just looked up some commentary and stuff on this book, and its all way too much for you to read and it gets a little boring…so this whole thing is going to be just me telling you what I think, I might refer to some notes sometime…just not now.

So how long is this thing going to take? The rest of your life. This is about you and your relationship with God…that’s why I’m doing it. And no, I didn’t get those words from somewhere else…I just came up with all of that on my own. But really, this is about getting you to read your Bible, even if it’s only 4 verses a day, one tiny paragraph. How long is this book going to take? Eh, at this rate it’ll take forever…but we’ll go at our own pace. I’m not going to go through every single verse every single time like I did this time, I’m going to leave some of it up to you.

What’s this going to cost you? Your life. All of it. Every single little tiny piece of it. Give it all to God. Surrender it. I was being serious about that, but what you are asking is what is this Bible study going to cost you. It will be a few minutes every day…I promise it won’t take you longer than 5 minutes to read the passage. I can’t give any guarantee’s on how long the actual study will take, but they will be getting slightly longer.

What are you going to get out of this? Eternal life with Jesus. A better understanding of the Bible. You’ll start praying more. You will understand your faith better. I promise, it’s worth it. And this book in particular will bring you joy…I chose it because it’s like me talking to you.

So how’s this going to work? Well, the original study will be mailed out every day to my cousin...but I'll update this blog every couple days or once a week or whatever…I honestly don’t know. This is just an idea that popped into my head a little bit ago.

Just remember, this is for you. For you, not for me. Do I get some perks out of it? Yeah, but it’s still for you.

Don’t forget that I love you, all of you. Forever and always.

Be the light. The pinprick of light in the darkness. The star. Be the star.

The Beginning

I've never had a blog before, but I'm starting now. The blog is all about the Light, who is our Creator, God in Heaven.

I'm not a scholar, I haven't extensively studied the Bible, I'm just your average Joe walking around...actually I'm probably less than your average Joe. I'm just here to share what I think, and to try and help people. That's what I'm here for, to help people.

Most of the world is in the Darkness, most of the world won't be going to Heaven, most of the world is falling away into the depths of Hell. This blog is the start of a new era for me, and for you as a reader. Its a sort of Bible study...the way I want to do it, when I want to do it.

I'm starting with Philippians. It's my favorite book of the Bible. Any verses I post are in New International Version, any thoughts I post are my own unless otherwise noted. This is just as much for me as it is for you, but it is more for my cousin than for anyone. I am starting this for her, because she needs some light. Right now, she needs joy and Philippians is about joy and rejoicing.

So read His word, dance for Him, jump off a cliff for Him, dive into His ocean, swim in His waters, drown in His it for you and do it for Him. When you do all of that, you will be a pinprick of light in the darkness of the world.

Be like a star, a pinprick of light in the darkness. The theme verse for this blog is Philippians 2:15 that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe.
